As large auditoriums switched to online teaching, one of the first conclusions was that online recorded lessons are best done online, because they allow for large groups to connect and have better visibility as well as more interactions through the chat and survey options of online meeting software. This has left many universities wondering what to do with these large audience spaces. One idea that has been already applied in many modern schools is these collaborative large active classrooms. While the capacity decreases, the new layout makes collaboration more intentional for larger groups of students. We propose a concept that considers even a hybrid presence, to allow for students to join virtually and be assigned to different groups of students automatically while maintaining social distancing and density reduction.
