Sara Armbruster

Sara Armbruster is the president and CEO of Steelcase Inc., the company that helps people do their best work by creating places that work better.

Since assuming the CEO role and joining the company’s Board of Directors in 2021, Sara has led transformational change throughout the organization. Under her leadership, Steelcase has strengthened its position as the industry leader in supporting workplace transformation across all the places work happens, including offices of all sizes, educational institutions, healthcare organizations, and homes. In addition to diversifying the company’s portfolio, Sara has led meaningful increases in profitability.

In her previous roles as executive vice president and vice president of strategy, research, and digital transformation, Sara spearheaded technology initiatives and fostered innovation in global design research, business model design, and growth strategy. She also was responsible for the company’s Applied Research + Consulting practice, Steelcase Health, and Steelcase Education as well as acquisitions and partnerships that delivered profitable growth.

Before joining Steelcase in 2007, Sara led strategy development at Banta Corporation, a publicly traded global printing and supply chain services company, based in Menasha, Wis. Her career began at McKinsey & Company, where she gained broad global experience in multiple industries.

Beyond her leadership at Steelcase, Sara is known for creating a positive impact for people and the planet through her business and community engagement. She currently serves on the board of directors of Winnebago Industries and is a member of Business Roundtable. She also serves on the board of directors of several nonprofit organizations, including Chief Executives for Corporate Purpose, the Steelcase Foundation, and Catalyst, a global nonprofit dedicated to building workplaces that work for women.

Sara holds a bachelor’s degree in Slavic languages and literatures from Yale University in New Haven, Conn.; a master’s degree in international relations from the Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies of Johns Hopkins University in Washington, D.C.; and an MBA from the Amos Tuck School at Dartmouth College in Hanover, N.H.

Alessandro Centrone

Alessandro Centrone is president of Steelcase EMEA, the company that helps people do their best work by creating places that work better. ​

As president of Steelcase EMEA, Alessandro oversees and manages all business operations across the region to ensure sustained growth and profitability. Additionally, he is a member of the Board of Directors for Steelcase-Jeraisy LTD.​

Alessandro began his journey with Steelcase in 2012. In his previous roles as vice president of Central Eastern Southern Europe, vice president of growth markets for EMEA, and vice president of marketing for EMEA, he managed teams of workplace specialists who catered to customers, designers, and dealer partners across various markets. He also integrated new brands and partners into the business, translating customer needs, trends, and insights into products and solutions for Steelcase’s comprehensive product portfolio.​

Before joining Steelcase, Alessandro held leadership roles at Sedus, Renault Italy, and Arthur Anderson, working with clients across diverse sectors and acquiring broad international expertise. ​

Alessandro’s work with multidisciplinary teams across North America, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa has given him a deep understanding of diverse cultures, working styles, and organizational dynamics. He uses these insights to promote inclusion, empowerment, and accountability in the workplace.​

Beyond his leadership at Steelcase, Alessandro serves on the board of directors for the i3-Group and for the Munich International School as chair of the strategy committee. He is a passionate long-distance runner and an active advocate for children with disabilities. ​

Alessandro holds an MBA from the University of Nebraska in Lincoln, Nebraska and a bachelor’s degree in finance from Università Bocconi in Milan, Italy.

Donna Flynn

Donna Flynn is vice president, chief people officer at Steelcase Inc., the company that helps people do their best work by creating places that work better. ​

Donna joined Steelcase in 2011 and has since played a pivotal role in shaping the company’s people-centered culture across many parts of the business. In her current role, she oversees Human Resources, Learning + Development, and Leadership Effectiveness globally, and is responsible for leading the company’s efforts to attract, retain, develop, and inspire employees. ​

Previously, Donna was vice president, Workspace Futures, where she led Steelcase research on the future of work, worker, and workplace and embedded those insights across strategy, product, and marketing. Under her leadership, the team led design research + strategy on topics such as wellbeing at work, neuroscience of work, emerging technologies, and social dynamics of multigenerational workplaces—and also co-created a multitude of successful products with product development teams.​

Before joining Steelcase, Donna worked as an experience strategist and research manager at Microsoft, where she designed and developed user experiences across mobility, healthcare, work and consumer products. Donna’s prior experience includes serving as a social science analyst at the International Center for Research on Women in Washington, D.C. and working as an international development consultant. ​

An active volunteer in her community in Colorado, Donna has most recently been supporting the design and development of an 8500 sf nature center for a 30-year old non-profit environmental education organization, Wild Bear Nature Center.​

Donna received a bachelor’s degree in anthropology/African and Middle Eastern studies from the University of Colorado in Boulder, Colorado. She holds a Ph.D. in Anthropology from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, where she was also a Fulbright Scholar.

Robert Krestakos

Bob Krestakos is vice president, chief operations officer at Steelcase Inc., the company that helps people do their best work by creating places that work better. ​

In his current role, Bob is responsible for all aspects of the industrial operations model including order processing and order fulfillment, supply management, manufacturing, and logistics. His additional responsibilities include product customization through Studio B and Studio Express, product lifecycle services, testing, and quality.​

Bob joined Steelcase in 1992 as a consulting and systems programmer and continued to work in various technical roles in the IT organization before moving into several leadership roles. He served as the Chief Information Officer from 2007-2015 before becoming vice president, Americas operations. ​

Bob’s previous positions within the company include manager of network services, director of the business technology group, and director of technical services and operations. In these capacities, he oversaw the deployment, operation, and support of hardware and software systems. ​

Prior to joining Steelcase, Bob worked as a principal software engineer at Digital Equipment Corporation in New Hampshire, where he designed and implemented significant software systems for transaction processing, network communication, and database integration. ​

Bob graduated from Central Michigan University in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan with a bachelor’s degree in computer science and mathematics.

Robert Krestakos

Terry Lenhardt

Terry Lenhardt is senior vice president, marketing + customer verticals at Steelcase Inc., the company that helps people do their best work by creating places that work better. ​

Terry has been instrumental in product marketing since 2018, driving strategic initiatives and enhancing market presence. Most recently, Terry led the design and implementation of a customer-centric vertical marketing organization in support of the company’s aim to support client workplace transformation wherever work happens.​

In his current role, Terry oversees the launch and profitability of all products across Steelcase’s portfolio of brands and manages customer verticals within the Americas organization as well as several wholly owned subsidiaries within those verticals.​

Previously, Terry held key leadership positions at Steelcase, including chief information officer (CIO), where he directed all IT functions to support the company’s strategy and operations globally. Prior to his role as CIO, Terry served as vice president of finance for the Americas, EMEA, and Asia Pacific regions, playing a crucial role in corporate financial planning, marketing finance, and operations finance. His insights and analyses contributed significantly to strategic decision making. ​

Terry’s career at Steelcase began in 1994 as vice president of finance for the Steelcase Design Partnership. He later assumed leadership of Market and Business Intelligence for Steelcase North America and served as vice president of corporate strategy & development, driving growth initiatives, mergers and acquisitions, investor relations, and partnerships. ​

Before joining Steelcase, Terry spent a decade at Unisys Corporation in various finance and planning leadership roles, including director of corporate planning and analysis and director of finance, Japan Operations. He started his career as an auditor at Touche Ross & Co., earning certification as a public accountant. ​

Beyond his leadership at Steelcase, Terry has long been active within the greater Grand Rapids community. He currently serves on the board of directors of the Heart of West Michigan United Way as Secretary and Treasurer. Terry also served on the capital fund committee of the State of Michigan Special Olympics Unified Sports & Inclusion Center, as well as other non-profit organizations.​​

Terry holds a bachelor of science degree in accountancy from Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan and a master’s degree in business administration with a concentration in finance from the University of Detroit’s Graduate School in Detroit, Michigan.

Peter Lewchanin

Peter Lewchanin is president of Steelcase APAC, the company that helps people do their best work by creating places that work better. ​

In his role, Peter oversees and manages all business operations across Asia Pacific to ensure the company’s sustained performance in the region.

​Prior to his current role, Peter was vice president of corporate strategy for Steelcase, where he was responsible for leading global strategic initiatives and corporate business development activities.

Previously, as president of PolyVision, Peter led the restructuring and turnaround efforts of the company and eventual divestiture from Steelcase to a private equity firm in 2000. In his earlier role as chief financial officer of PolyVision, he led the company’s financial planning, operations finance, supply chain, and accounting compliance. ​

Before joining Steelcase, Peter worked as a controller for Revolution LLC, a venture capital firm in Washington DC, where he oversaw the firm’s finance and treasury functions. He also served as assistant vice president of finance for Oldcastle in Atlanta, Georgia, where he was responsible for various financial reporting and planning functions, M&A activities, and value creation plans. ​

Starting his career as an associate with KPMG, Peter is an active CPA and graduated Summa Cum Laude with a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Georgia State University in Atlanta, Georgia. He also holds an MBA from the Goizueta business school at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia.

Steve Miller

Steve Miller is chief technology officer at Steelcase Inc., the company that helps people do their best work by creating places that work better. ​

In his role, Steve leads the company’s digital transformation, from the application of advanced analytics + AI. to the creation of novel digital experiences, to the modernization of core business practices. With extensive experience in technology, Steve is responsible for overseeing the Information Technology organization and exploring the intersection between technology and business strategy, contributing articles to Wired, CIO Magazine, the WSJ, and others on the topic. He has been recognized for this work as the 2022 CIO of the Year and 2023 Trend Cybersecurity Leader award winner.​

Previously, Steve held the title of chief information officer (CIO). As CIO, Steve had general responsibility for the Steelcase Global Information Technology organization, which has been frequently recognized as one of the best run in the world with numerous awards for innovation in technology and data analytics. ​

Since joining Steelcase in 1999 as a software developer, Steve has been responsible for almost every IT function in every region Steelcase operates. This has included a range of responsibilities from directing the IT team in Steelcase Asia Pacific while based in Hong Kong as part of the regional leadership team, to leading global IT operations, to launching the technology Innovation Office and shared service centers.​

Before joining Steelcase, Steve ran his own software development company and has been a lifelong musician like his namesake.​

Outside of his role at Steelcase, Steve serves on the board for the West Michigan Center for Arts and Technology, an organization that embodies his passions. He also serves on the board of the Grand Rapids Chamber of Commerce, supporting the healthy growth of his Grand Rapids hometown.​

He holds a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering and biochemistry from Michigan State University in East Lansing, Michigan.

Gale Moutrey

Gale Moutrey is the vice president of global brand + corporate communications for Steelcase Inc., the company that helps people do their best work by creating places that work better. ​

A member of the senior executive team, Gale is responsible for brand & corporate communications and experiences, leading the teams that brings research, insights, and workplace solutions to customers, designers, and industry professionals. ​

Gale is publisher and executive editor of Work Better Magazine, a global publication that delivers Steelcase research and explores trends and issues impacting work, workers, and the workplace. A thought leader in the industry, she travels the world – virtually and physically – to share this work with all audiences engaged in the built environment. ​​

Joining Steelcase in 1984, Gale’s career at Steelcase includes sales management, product marketing leadership, and communications, first in the Americas and then globally in 2010. ​

Currently, Gale sits on the board of directors of AVIXA, the trade association for the professional audiovisual industry worldwide, offering information, market intelligence, and training.​ ​

Gale holds a degree in English from the University of Toronto and a degree in Marketing from Metropolitan University, both based in Toronto, Canada.

Lizbeth O'Shaughnessy

Beth is senior vice president, chief administration officer, general counsel and secretary at Steelcase Inc., the company that helps people do their best work by creating places that work better. ​

As a leader, Beth has focused on building a business partnering mindset for the legal and compliance teams, as evidenced by her team’s attainment of numerous exemptions from tariffs applied to imported steel, aluminum, and other commodities. Her leadership also includes building upon the company’s long-standing commitment to put people first and to improve the planet by implementing the ESG framework, culminating most recently in the company’s 2024 Net Zero commitment to reduce carbon emissions over 90% by 2050. This People + Planet effort has furthered the company to become a true leader in this space, not only within our industry, but in the business world overall.​​

In her multifaceted position she leads the legal team, and is responsible for several other groups, including Sustainability, Global Trade Compliance, Global Codes Compliance, Government Affairs, Social Innovation and ESG, also referred to as the company’s commitment to furthering the wellbeing of People and the Planet. As Corporate Secretary, Beth also plays a pivotal role in corporate governance.

With a career spanning over three decades at Steelcase, Beth has held progressively senior roles. Previously, she served as corporate counsel, senior corporate counsel, assistant general counsel and vice president, chief legal officer, and secretary, providing global leadership for legal services essential to supporting the company’s operations worldwide. Her responsibilities included advising on complex legal matters and ensuring compliance across diverse geographies and business functions. During her tenure, she spent two years as an expatriate in the Netherlands, focusing exclusively on legal matters for Steelcase International. ​

Prior to joining Steelcase, Beth honed her legal expertise at The Dow Chemical Company from 1987 to 1992 as an antitrust attorney. ​

As part of her role, Beth is also very active in the community, having served on the Grand Rapids Art Museum’s Board of Trustees (GRAM BoT) since 2009, including terms as secretary/treasurer of the GRAM BoT and currently as vice president. Beth also served on the Grand Rapids Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors for six years. Earlier community service included serving on the Inforum Board of Directors and ten years as a director on the Women’s Resource Center Board.

Allan Smith Jr.

Allan Smith is senior vice president; president, Americas; and chief product officer for Steelcase Inc., the company that helps people do their best work by creating places that work better. ​

Allan is a seasoned executive in the office furniture industry, known for his exceptional leadership in driving product innovation through insightful strategies, a customer-centered approach and commitment to human-centered design. Throughout his 30+ year tenure, he has achieved remarkable revenue growth and diversification by successfully leading the company’s recent acquisitions.​

In his current dual role, Allan provides regional leadership and accountability for the Americas business, focused on strategy, execution, driving profitability, and leading the design and development of innovative and competitive products. ​

Previously, Allan was chief revenue officer, responsible for all global revenue-generating functions at the company. His leadership spanned Steelcase Workspace Futures, Global Design and Product Engineering, Marketing, Communications, and Sales, driving insights into the future of work and ensuring the development and launch of products would meet emerging customer needs. ​

Prior to this role, Allan served as vice president, global marketing at Steelcase, where he led all global marketing functions. This included strategic oversight of the company’s product portfolio, lifecycle management, product development and launch, communications, and branding efforts. He and his teams were instrumental in translating research and insights into innovative products and applications.

Allan was also previously vice president of marketing for Steelcase in Europe, where he led cross-functional teams in research, product development, engineering, design, and marketing communications. His extensive experience since joining the company in 1991 includes leadership roles in environmental strategy and various marketing and communications capacities at both Steelcase and Designtex. ​

Beyond his professional life, Allan has dedicated time to the Leelanau Conservancy and the Grand Rapids Public Museum, contributing to the preservation of natural spaces and the enrichment of community culture.​

Allan Smith Jr.

David Sylvester

Dave Sylvester is the senior vice president, chief financial officer at Steelcase, Inc., the company that helps people do their best work by creating places that work better. He also oversees the Global Business Centers, Real Estate, Facilities and Security.​

As the longest serving CFO in the company’s 110+ year history, Dave played a crucial role in Steelcase’s transition to a publicly traded company in 1998. Having lived, worked, and supported our global business in 50 countries, he was an integral part of transforming the operational footprint of Steelcase. In addition, Dave oversaw the launch and operations of the company’s Global Business Centers and has long been a strong champion for talent development within the Finance organization and more broadly. ​

Before being appointed to his current position in April 2011, he served as vice president, chief financial officer and expanded his role to include global Facilities and Real Estate and Steelcase Aviation. Since then, Dave has also added Global Business Centers to his responsibilities.

​Prior to this, he was vice president, operations finance, responsible for Operations Finance in North America and internationally. He was closely involved in supply chain decisions, product placement, and global supply chain strategy implementation. ​

​Dave began his career with Steelcase in 1995 as manager, financial reporting and planning. After served as director and assistant controller, corporate finance and also held the role of finance leader for Steelcase International based in Strasbourg, France, where he led all financial activities outside of the United States and Canada, including profitability analysis, business model evolution, EVA measurement, acquisition integration, and other special projects. ​

Before joining Steelcase, Dave worked in several audit and special project positions over seven years at PriceWaterhouseCoopers in Chicago, Illinois. ​

Dave sits on the boards of joint venture Steelcase Jeraisy in Saudi Arabia, One Workplace on the West Coast, and several non-profit organizations in West Michigan.​​

Dave is affiliated with the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Illinois Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He graduated from Michigan State University in East Lansing, Michigan with a bachelor’s degree in accounting and an MBA in finance.
